Why Use External Resources

Using external resourcing can often be the only way for an organisation to find the human capital required to staff key projects or other non-business-as-usual initiatives.

However, using external resources can provide a number of other advantages to an organisation:

Experience

  • In-depth subject matter expertise gained from a number of different clients
  • A ‘fresh pair of eyes’ in the organisation
  • Seasoned project and delivery focused mindset

Focus

  • Ability to concentrate on the project/ task at hand without distractions from ‘business as usual’ responsibilities

Impartiality

  • Easier to give impartial advice/ make recommendations without worrying about ‘who to please’ in the organisation

Flexibility

  • Availability at short notice
  • Little or no-notice periods are required in the event of project cancellation

Cost

  • Whilst the expectation is that external consultants and other external resources will charge a day rate at a premium to an average salary, there are no payroll costs (such as N.I) or associated benefits to be paid to external resources
  • No ‘redundancy’ or ‘payment in lieu of notice’ costs
